The Spring WSPPN Advisory Board/Conference Planning meeting is schedule to occur on April 28 and 29 at the Hacienda Hotel in Old Town San Diego. This meeting will focus on working with the Bahia to secure the fall conference facilities. Currently we are looking at October 19, 20, 21, October 26, 27, 28, or November 8, 9, 10th (with the first date each week being the afternoon board meeting. Joel Makeower from the GreenBiz has been contacted as a potential keynote speaker. He is not available for the first November dates, but is out the other two weeks.

We are considering adjusting the conference schedule to eliminate the Award Dinner on the first day of the conference and to add the awards to the plenary lunch session on day two.   Several reasons for this include:

  • The first day of the conference was quite long with the dinner last time.

  • This will reduce the number of big name speakers we need to recruit.

  • This is expected to help to control conference registration costs.

While we have fallen a little behind with Ed’s departure, I have very good news.  Donna Walden began working with us as the WSPPN Regional Coordinator earlier this week.  In order to expedite our hiring process Donna agreed to begin working with WSPPN under our temporary hiring authorization and we will need to undergo our University’s a full search process in the near future.  She doesn’t have a University email yet, her phone is 775-689-6678.

I will be distributing the conference call for papers very soon.  Please look for that and promote submittals through your individual networks.

Thanks for your continuing contributions to WSPPN.  I look forward to seeing you again soon. CLICK HERE for the Meeting Agenda
